OPENING JUST in time for the Christmas and summer holiday season was Foodstuffs Auckland’s first brand new purpose-built standalone Four Square store to open in what is believed to be some 10 to 20 years.
The store is in Beachlands, a growing community in East Auckland some 20 minutes’ drive from Botany Town Centre.
Rob Redwood, chairman of Foodstuffs Auckland, who officially opened the store, said opening a brand new purposebuilt store was part of work going on around the country to breathe new life into the banner.
Redwood, who is owner/operator of New World in Auckland’s Eastridge, said the Four Square group was catering for communities which were not large enough for it to make sense to establish big box supermarkets.
Owner/operator of the new store is Peter Carroll, who had a Four Square in Whitianga. He is running the store with his wife, Vina, and has a long association with the grocery industry.
“The store looks fantastic and the team worked very hard to get the store ready for opening,” she said. “The Four Square will provide the Beachlands community with an excellent local grocery offer.”
The new store, which is open from 7 to 7 seven days a week, has created 20 new full and part-time jobs in the community as well as providing future employment opportunities further down the track.
The interior also incorporates Tasselli, a new refrigerated and freezer cabinetry range supplied and installed by Climatech Refrigeration. Climatech, a subsidery of Norfolk Electrical / Mechanical, has secured a sole agency agreement with Isa Italy, for theTasselli range.
The Tasselli range is designed and manufactured to European standards in Italy and imported by Climatech. Tasselli products are extremely competitive and offer a full range for all applications.
The 650sq m store has 28 car parks and it quite separate from the other stores in the community.
It is the fourth new store to have been opened by Foodstuffs last year.
The first was the long-awaited PAK’n SAVE Wairau Park, followed by a New World opened during the winter in Morrinsville and another New World opened in the spring in New Lynn.
